Advanced Prior Learning - Qualification Only Route

Experienced groomers with established practical skills may apply to be considered for our Advanced Prior Learning (APL) route.

This pathway recognised existing industry experience and allows eligible candidates to work towards formal qualification without attending the full training program.

This route is designed for competent, practicing groomers - not beginners.

Who this is suitable for:

The APL route may be appropriate for:

Groomers already working independently
Those with several years of practical salon experience
International groomers seeking UK recognised qualifications
Stylists who have trained informally and now wish to formalise their credentials

Applicants must already be working to a professional standard.

The Assessment Process:

To ensure qualification standards are upheld, all APL applicants must complete a structure approval process.

This includes:

Submission of a detailed portfolio of evidence demonstrating experience and technical ability
Photographic and/or video evidence of work
Proof of industry experience
An in-salon assessment day to evaluate practical competence

The assessment day ensures candidates are working at the required standard before being entered for the formal qualification assessment.

Maintaining Standards

The qualification only route is not a fast-track or guaranteed entry pathway.

If an applicant is not yet working to the required standard, we may recommend additional training before proceeding.

Our priority is to maintain professional integrity and ensure all candidates presented for assessment are fully prepared.
