We always do everything we possibly can to make sure you pet’s time in the salon is as pleasant as possible. Unfortunately, occasionally grooming can expose a previously hidden medical issue, or aggravate a current one. This can happen during or after grooming.
It is possible that an accident could occur during grooming. Utmost care and caution will always be taken, but cuts, scratches, nicks and quicking of nails could occur. Our groomers will not be responsible for any conditions or problems discovered during grooming. We will not be responsible for accidental death of the pet as a result of any pre-existing health condition. I have raised any health concerns and relevant information with the grooming team.
Should our groomers determine, at our sole discretion, that urgent veterinary care is required, I agree to pay all associated fees and costs. If my pet’s vet is not available, I authorise Tails & Tweed Grooming to use its chosen vet. We will not be liable for any after-grooming effects of de-matting, clipping or brushing procedures, or problems uncovered on a badly matted or otherwise neglected coat including, but not limited to, skin redness, itchiness, or self-inflicted irritations from excessive external scratching or rubbing. Time and costs associated with de-matting are unpredictable. I agree to pay whatever fees are incurred as a result of de-matting. Whether a pet is matted is at the sole discretion of our groomers. Any quoted price for grooming is based on the pet being presented to us in good condition. Extra charges will be incurred for matting. We do not demat for any more than ten minutes in line with the Animal Welfare Act 2006. We do not demat cats.

You are required to pay a deposit when booking your appointment based on the price of the groom. Your booking is not confirmed until such deposit payment is received. Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal: – this includes prolonged ‘de-matting’ which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the dog. If you bring in your dog with more than 10 minutes of de-matting work, we are required by the Act to clip your dog short humanely or refer you to your vet to do the same. We will only attempt to de-matt 5% of a dog – which equates to about 50p sized mat behind each ear, same size in the armpits and perhaps one or two in the groin or tail area. We have assessed your dog’s coat and found it to be matted, therefore it needs to be clipped short. This can be prevented by daily brushing with a slicker brush and comb. We will be happy to explain the correct way to brush your dog and suggest a grooming programme that will allow us to achieve the look you would like for your dog, this may involve more frequent visits to our salon and will certainly involve daily grooming at home. When a dog’s coat becomes matted, it causes discomfort as the matts pull tightly on the skin and underlying health conditions may not be visible. When a matted coat is clipped short, it may occasional reveal sore, reddened and irritated skin, this is due to the fact that the skin has not been able to breathe, and air circulation is not restored. Clipping a matted coat can take longer and cause additional wear and tear on our equipment so a further fee may be chargeable in addition to the normal groom price.
The process of de-matting increases the risk of injury including but not limited to cuts and grazes, skin irritations caused by the shortness of the clipper blades that will be used as well as possible haematomas. In addition, you may see some behavioural changes such as head shaking, excessive scratching, licking and “scooting”. This is where the dog will scrape their back end on the floor to relive itching and irritations. Should you have any concerns you should seek advise from your usual vet.
Matting caused different levels of tension on the coat so we are less able to achieve a smooth and even finish on a matted pet.
Additional charges may be incurred due to the wear on equipment, additional products used, as well as time and skill needed to remove matting.
I understand the above conditions and by submitting my pet to be groomed I am agreeing to the above terms and conditions and agreed to pay the full service fees plus matting fees. I understand the appearance of my pet may be significantly altered due to removal of matting. Tails & Tweed are not responsible for any cuts, scraped, clipper rash, irritation etc due to shaving off matted pets, nor any underlying health issue not seen due to matting.
I understand the groomer will be using the Emmipet ultrasound toothbrush on my dog which has no vibration, no movement and no noise.
I consent to the use of a tooth de-scaler on my dog’s teeth in a kind and gentle manner; to remove any loose tartar, plaque or stains from the teeth.
I understand and consent to Groomer taking before and after pictures to show me and to be displayed on the our website or social media pages.
I understand that the groomer will stop the teeth cleaning session and I may need to seek veterinary assistance if:
Any loose teeth are suspected
If my dog objects and becomes stressed or aggressive
Any obvious abnormalities are visible or suspected in the mouth such as: A foreign body embedded in the mouth Oral warts Oral Injuries or Tumours
I understand that:
There may be some minor bleeding of the gums during and after teeth cleaning as the tartar and the plaque is removed. If the session must stop for any health or behaviour reasons I will still pay for the full session taking place
Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning
Whilst this method of dental cleaning is highly effective in removing mild tartar, improving gums and mouth health and breath, Tails and tweed cannot guarantee the treatments’ effectiveness or suitability for individual dogs due to varying external factors. Tails and tweed cannot be held responsible for any problems occurring from poor dentition before, during or after any ultrasonic treatments. Emmipet ultrasonic treatment is not a veterinary procedure and we cannot diagnose any problems with your dog’s mouth. Emmipet is designed as a maintenance treatment and does not replace any veterinary treatment, advice or procedure.
I Declare That I do not know of any medical reason why teeth cleaning cannot be carried out on my dog and I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to inform the Groomer in the future should this be the case.
By giving my pet in to Tails and Tweed for grooming I understand I am accepting all of the relevant terms and conditions stated.
